Hello everyone,

As we are enjoying the end of a beautiful summer, the FSK is thinking about, and looking to, the 2015 KY Flute Festival.  It will be a celebration of 16 years of the FSK!!  We hope that you will make plans to join us at the Festival.  Karl Barton will be our guest artist!!  He is one of the most versatile flutist/teachers in America today!  In addition to traditional flute repertoire, Karl is an expert in Jazz and World Music.  What a wonderful experience this will be for everyone!  You also will have the opportunity to perform for him in the master class.  You can’t miss this!  In addition to Dr. Barton’s activities, there will be many other events during the Festival.  There will be clinics about flute playing and teaching, a variety of concerts, a great Exhibit Hall with flutes and flute-related items, and many other fun things to experience!!  All of the events that are a part of the Festival are included in the registration fee.

There will also be competitions that are a part of the Festival!  The details will are posted in the 2015 KY Flute Festival section of our website.  High School students, you may also want to know that, once again this year, we are using the KY All-State music for the recording round.  As soon as KMEA announces these selections, you can begin preparing it for the FSK Competition, as well as for your All-State audition!  For those of you living outside of KY, we will update our Competition posting as soon as we know those selections (mid August??) so you can enter our FSK competition, as well.  The FSK is very excited to offer all of these opportunities during this year’s Festival and we look forward to hearing everyone’s entries!

How can you find out more about the Festival?  Simply click on the link “2015 KY Flute Festival.” Our website will continue to be updated as more details are finalized, so check back often.  Be sure to pay special attention to the deadlines for each event you would like to apply for – they are all different.  There is also a pre-registration deadline for the Festival – you can save money by pre-registering!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at FSKentucky@yahoo.com.

Keep Practicing and ENJOY the rest of your Summer!

Take care,
