Hello everyone,

As we are enjoying a beautiful Fall, the FSK is thinking about, and looking to, the 2017 KY Flute Festival.  It will be a celebration of 18 years of the FSK!!  We hope that you will make plans to join us at the Festival.  Please notice that our Festival will be in a different month this year:  March 24-25, 2017.

Troy Paolantonio will be our guest artist for the 2017 KY Flute Festival!!!  Staff Sergeant Paolantonio is a multi-talented musician – a gifted flutist and one of our country’s best fife players!  Staff Sergeant Paolantonio is a member of one of our nation’s special military ensembles:  The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.  When he is in Kentucky as our guest artist – you will hear him play both flute and fife!  You don’t want to miss this special opportunity.  In addition to performing, Staff Sergeant Paolantonio will be teaching a masterclass and will be available to explain what the life of a Military Musician is like.  I hope you will join us to hear his performances and learn from his teaching!  In addition to Staff Sergeant Paolantonio’s activities, there will be many other events during the Festival.  There will be clinics about flute playing and teaching, a variety of concerts, a great Exhibit Hall with flutes and flute-related items, and many other fun things to experience!!  All of the events that are a part of the Festival are included in the registration fee.

There will also be competitions that are a part of the Festival!  The details will are posted in the 2017 KY Flute Festival section of our website.  High School students, you may also want to know that, once again this year, we are using the KY All-State music for the recording round.  So, you can begin preparing the music for the FSK Competition, as well as for your All-State audition!  The FSK is very excited to offer all of these opportunities during this year’s Festival and we look forward to hearing everyone’s entries!

How can you find out more about the Festival?  Simply click on the link “2017 KY Flute Festival.” Our website will continue to be updated as more details are finalized, so check back often.  Be sure to pay special attention to the deadlines for each event you would like to apply for – they are all different.  There is also a pre-registration deadline for the Festival – you can save money by pre-registering!
