Parking Info

Here are some directions that hopefully will help you to navigate yourself around the major construction that is happening on campus.  Access to Big Red Way is closed at the top of the hill.  The only way to access Big Red Way is via Dogwood (see below).  Please see the map and directions to WKU that are posted on the FSK webpage for street names.

If you are arriving on Friday, expect confusion, as there are many roads that are closed.  I recommend parking your car for a few minutes at the FAC loading dock and come up to get a parking pass and map from me.  If you are arriving on Saturday, you can park in any spot that is not handicapped and you do not need a parking pass.  Because it is a holiday weekend, parking on Saturday will be less challenging.

If you are arriving on Friday, you can access our loading dock for the Ivan Wilson Center for Performing Arts to get your parking pass.  Take University Boulevard and access Dogwood (by the parking structure, between buildings 5 & 6 on map).  Take Dogwood and turn LEFT going UP Big Red Way .  From Big Red Way , turn in the Schneider Lot and veer to your left, toward the Weatherby Administration Building .  Follow along those parking spaces and go around the back of the lot.  You will pass some handicapped places on your left.  Keep following – at this point you will feel like you are driving on the sidewalk.  This is how you will access the Ivan Wilson service drive area.  The Ivan Wilson is the big building on your left – park in the center in the back of the building and access the elevators, which are in the center of the building.  Registration will be on the third floor, in room 321.

You can park temporarily at the loading dock and come up for a parking pass, but you cannot permanently park there because the Chief of Police said it is a fire hazard.  So after you register, you will have to hunt around campus for a parking spot.  Expect to park far away and be completely irritated by the time you find a spot -- it could take up to an hour.  The earlier you arrive, the easier parking will be.  Have a safe trip and I will see you this weekend!

Sincerely,

Heidi Pintner
