Gemeinhardt, Vintage Professional Sterling Gemeinhardt 3SS B Foot, Open Hole Flute. Serial #34536. Handcrafted sterling silver Gemeinhardt flute—model 3SS. Open-hole flute with a low B footjoint , an in-line G and a sterling silver head, body and foot with sterling silver keys. The following is engraved on the body: Gemeinhardt, Hand Crafted, Sterling, 3SS, Made in Elkhart, Ind. There are also very small delicate engravings on the head joint which read Gemeinhardt, initials which I think are KGG and Elkhart Ind. Handcrafted hardwood flute cases, crafted by flutist/woodworker mostly for the art of it. Walnut, maple, cherry, mahogany in solids (i.e., solid, uninterrupted cherry, or walnut, etc.) and mixed patterns (e.g., a thin maple strip cutting longitudinally through an otherwise solid walnut case, a slash of bird's-eye maple through an otherwise cherry case, etc.). Most are crafted as flute + piccolo cases; some for flute alone. (Piccolo supports are, to my knowledge, universal to any brand; flute supports in the majority of the boxes are adjustable to slight variations in length of the flute body.)
